Larval infestation levels of pecan bud moth, Gretchena bolliana (Lepidoptera: Tortricidae), in relation to cultivar and position on the tree
Environmental Entomology 15 (2), 436-438
Abstract: Incidence of pecan bud moth, Gretchena bolliana (Slingerland), larvae on five pecan cultivars, Carya illinoensis (Wang.) K. Koch, and the water hickory, C. aquatica (Michx. f.) Nutt., was evaluated in the nursery. 'Gloria Grande' and 'Stuart' had significantly larger populations of bud moth than 'Elliott', 'Sumner', and 'Desirable'. Numbers of bud moth larvae on orchard trees were significantly higher in the top third of the tree than in the bottom two-thirds, but no directional effect was observed.
